BANGOR – Judith (Cunningham) Leavitt, 76, died July 31, 2007. Judy was born Aug. 29, 1930, to Theodore W. Cunningham and Helene S. Cunningham, both of Bangor at one time. She graduated from Walnut Hill School and Bennington College where she studied architecture. She worked as an architectural designer for architects Eaton Tarbell and Cooper Milliken, both of the Bangor area, and Robert W. Crozier & Associates of Rye, N.Y. While living in Bangor as a young married woman, she was on the board of the Bangor Children’s Home and a member of the Junior League of Bangor and the Shakespeare Club. While living in Rye, N.Y., she was a longtime Girl Scout leader, served on the board of the Sackarah Path Girl Scout Council, and the Carver Community Center. Early in retirement, she was a volunteer at Eastern Maine Medical Center. With her husband, Alden, Judy enjoyed membership in the Penobscot Valley Country Club for many years. Judy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alden Dingley Leavitt of Bangor, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage, a love of entertaining, gourmet cooking, and art. She is also survived by her three daughters, Lynn Marrison and her husband, Chad, of Brewster, N.Y., Karen Hanley and her husband, Brendan, of North Creek, N.Y., and Tracy Davenport and her husband, George, of Tulsa, Okla.; by her grandchildren, Tucker and Heather Marrison, Kevin and Dillon Hanley, and Chelsea Davenport; and by caring and committed friends for many years. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher of All Souls Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Friday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
