HARRINGTON – Julia A. Smith, 80, passed away late in the afternoon Tuesday, March 8, 2005, surrounded by her loving family at an Ellsworth healthcare facility after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born April 27, 1924, in Milbridge, the daughter of Albion and Ethel (Strout) Strout. Julia was educated in Milbridge schools. On June 6, 1944, D-Day, she married Raymond E. Smith of Harrington in Tullahoma, Tenn. Together they enjoyed 54 years until his death in April of 1999. Julia worked in area factories most of her life. Her last job was Jedrey’s Clam Shop where she made many friends. Upon retiring Julia enjoyed baking and tending her flower gardens and reading. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; six brothers, and two sisters. Julia is survived by two sons, Craig Smith and his wife, Lida, of Cherryfield and Jeffrey Smith and his wife, Sharon, of Harrington. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Chris Smith and his fianc?e, Jennifer, of Newport, N.H., Kimberly Mills and her husband, Adam, of Shawmut, John Smith, Regina Seastrand and her husband, Gregg, and Melissa Vu and her husband, Frankie, all of California; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher and Caleb Mills, Josh and Katie, Leonora and Isabella Seastrand and James Vu; two brothers-in-law, Malcolm Smith and his wife, Betty, and Chester Smith and his wife, Tina; a sister-in-law, Edie Stanwood and her husband, Arnold; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, with Owen Beal officiating. Spring interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington.
