HERMON – Julia Janet Burgess, 73, went to sleep peacefully Oct. 3, 2006, surrounded by her devoted husband of 56 years and loving family. She was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Bangor, the daughter of John and Lois (Knox) Rogers. Growing up in Bangor, she then met the love of her life, her husband and soul mate, Earle Burgess. As their love and years unfolded so did their loving family, three daughters, Carmelita Sanborn and her husband, Herbet, of Hermon, Earline Harris and her loving companion, Richard Levesque, of Bangor and Karen Upton-Bean and her husband, Doug, of Hermon; one son, John Reed and his wife, Laurel, of Hermon. Extending the love even more, her arms embraced grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Billy-Wayne Sanborn and his wife, Jen, and children, Kaleb and Olivia, Earle Douglass Sanborn and his companion, Morgan, and children, Hunter, Kyle and Drake, Mercedes Germon and her husband, Jeremy, Angela Wescott and her loving companion, Scott Emmons, Taylor-Rose and Vanessa Bean, Adam Reed and his wife, Christine, and their daughter, Amber, Matthew Reed and his wife, Justie, and children, Lilly and Austin, Corrie Reed and her fiance, Troy Harriman. Raising children, grandbabies and devoting time to her soul mate, Earle, left her little time, but she continued to give of herself and time endlessly. Thirty six years with the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3177 found her honored with many offices, auxiliary president, madam state president and northern New England regional president. Retiring from three careers, Bangor City Hospital, Emples Knitting Mill and Meals for Me at Nason Park Manner, left time for Chemo Pond, West Grand Lake camp at Shirley Mills, grandchildren, and most of all, Earle, along with Mitt her loyal puppy. Friends may visit and share memories 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where the officers and members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3177 will conduct a prayer service 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. Interment will be at Pine Tree Cemetery, Hermon. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service Friday to the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
