POWNEL and LUBEC – June Comstock Libby, passed away July 14, 2004, at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth, after a period of failing health. She was born Sept. 17, 1916, in North Lubec, to George Russell and Julia Wooster Comstock. She graduated from Lubec High School in 1934. On July 15, 1934, she was married to Plaisted L. Libby of Lubec. She and her husband celebrated their 62nd year of marriage in 1996. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brother, Maxwell Russell Comstock. June is survived by her daughter, Judith Libby Hilton and husband, Bruce, of Pownal, with whom she made her home after her husband’s death in 1997. She is also survived by her loving grandson, Christopher Bruce Hilton and wife, Carrie, of New Gloucester; sister, Mildred Comstock Peaslee of Calais; sister-in-law, Edith Small Comstock of North Lubec; nephews and nieces,, Carlton A. Miller Jr. of Florida, Leon Libby of South Carolina, Walter Libby of California, Lorraine Libby Murphy of Lubec, Nola Libby Hough of Florida, Charles Mason of Searsport, and Mona Mason Skoog of California. June was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her dedication to her family was truly an example to be admired. She enjoyed the crafts of knitting and crocheting. Her keen sense of humor and love of the natural world will always be remembered by her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who loved her. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Interment was at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lubec, with the Rev. Charles Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Resident Activities Account, Coastal Manor, 20 West Main St., Yarmouth, ME 04096. Arrangements by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
