DOVER-FOXCROFT – June Eleanor (Roderick) Collette passed away peacefully June 8, 2008, at home, 12 days before her 94th birthday. She was never too concerned about milestones and birthdays. Born June 20, 1914, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Joseph T. Roderick and Flora Ireland Roderick, she was the third of six children, Richmond Roderick, Charlotte (Roderick) Mer-rill, Bernice (Roderick) Brown, Joseph Jr. and Galen Roderick, all of whom predeceased her. June had a wonderful life. She was president of her class at Foxcroft Academy, and a National Honor Society and student council member. For a number of years she was a member of Percolator Club and Miosac Club, as well as other community organizations. She and her husband, Eddie, operated several restaurants in Dover-Foxcroft, the last being Collette’s Colonial Restaurant across from the post office – currently the Nor’easter, run by Seth Ostrosky, who always treated her as a very special person, honoring her and her family on her 90th birthday, and June on Mother’s Day. She loved her family, fishing at Burnham Pond, berrying, cookouts at Fletcher’s Field and Bennett Pond, hunting, though not seriously, reading – especially about Maine, photography, “visiting,” and breakfasts at Bear’s Den and Irving’s. Her main caregivers during her final days were her loving daughter, Glenna Collette Bearce and her family and Home Health and Hospice Program. June’s husband of 55 years, Edward “Eddie” Collette predeceased her in 1988. She leaves a daughter, Glenna Collette Bearce and her husband, Kenneth, of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, Roderick Collette and his wife, Judith Doe Collette, of Brunswick; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Bearce Fowles, Jeffrey (Brother Michael) Bearce, Ann Bearce Scribner and her husband, Charles, Collette Bearce Simmons and her husband, John, Michael Roderick Collette and his wife, Carolyn, Jennifer Collette Wilson and her husband, Thomas, and Peter Collette; 12 great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Nicole Fowles, Meredith, Brian and Lauren Collette, Kenny and Kaitland Scribner, Davis, Jack and Miles Wilson, and Dustin and Abigail Simmons; one great-great-grandson, James Noonan; and a sister-in-law, Helen Roderick. She will be remembered by a special fishing buddy, Barbara Miller; special friends, Vi and Fred Peters and Dianne Early, who was her hairdresser and friend for the past 40 years. A celebration of June’s life will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, July 6, in the family lot at Gray Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thompson Free Library, 186 East Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
