FRANKFORT and SURRY June R. Buzzell Ellingwood, died June 7, 2005, at her home in Frankfort, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Blue Hill, the daughter of the late Esther Irene Danico and Milton Buzzell. She was the secretary and active member of The Surry Auxiliary Community Center, also an outstanding member and the secretary of the Arbutus Grange. She helped put on many benefits at the Grange and played at the nursing homes with her singing partner and the Members of The Low Key Band. She had been singing since she was very young and had a beautiful voice. She could play about any instrument and did until her hands would not let her. She still sang for her family and friends and for the benefit of others. Her enjoyments in life were picking berries of all kinds; and raising a large garden. She made pickles, jams and jellies with her husband, John, and her niece, Debbie. She always had to make enough to give to family and friends, especially for her doctor and nurses at the dialysis unit in Bangor where she had been a patient for 16 years, fighting for her life and showing everyone her determination to live. She loved going to Blue Grass Festivals, playing and singing, riding through all the backwoods and camping with John and her family. Her favorite camp spot was on Newberry Neck in Surry where she had grown up and spent many summers picking out crabmeat, picking berries and having cookouts with family and friends. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many things from afghans to bed dolls and entered them at the Blue Hill Fair along with her jams and veggies, she won many ribbons with her entries. She was always ready for a card game and never refused to play cards with her children and many others unless it was on the weekend, then she played 83 or spades with her sister and family. She loved her sister, Joan’s fried biscuits and clam cakes, she loved seafood. She was a great storyteller and told jokes that kept folks rolling with laughter. She loved life and all that it stood for. The loves of her life were her husband, John, and her children; and grandchildren. She always made very special time with each of them, right to the end. June was a very special mom, grandmother, aunt, friend and caregiver. She was loved by everyone that knew her and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, John Ellingwood of Frankfort; her children, Cheryl and Wesley Sutherland of Bucksport, Vicki and Mike Grindle of Orland, Donna Curtis of Bangor, Corey and Tammi Curtis of Dover, N.H.; two sisters, Joan Morse and her husband, Howard, Jean Moon and her husband, Wayne, both of Surry; six grandchildren, Robbie, Jeremy, Amanda, Debbie, Layne, and Leniessia; two stepchildren, Mary Ellingwood of California, John Ellingwood of Bangor; her aunt, Anna Buzzell of Ellsworth; and her uncle, Ralph Buzzell and wife; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
