SOUTHWEST HARBOR Karen Joan MacLeod, 68, died Oct. 8, 2006, in Southwest Harbor. She was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Schuyler M. and Katherine (Pomeroy) Rumill. She was a devoted wife of 50 years, mother and nana. Karen had a passion for life and family. She suffered with multiple health problems for many years. Karen will be dearly missed by all, as expressed by granddaughter, Amanda, “she had amazing wit and fearless strength.” Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert C. MacLeod; one son, Landry Scott MacLeod and wife, Virginia “Ginny,” of Southwest Harbor; one daughter, Diane Marie MacLeod of Lamoine and her friend, Mike Gross; stepson, Robert “Robin” MacLeod and wife, Suzanne, of Ellsworth; one brother, Richard Rumill and wife, Carolyn, of Enfield, Conn.; one sister, Janette Grindle and husband, Miles, of Eddington; sister-in-law, Joanne Beal and husband, Doug, of Southwest Harbor; grandchildren, Katherine Kissel and Ryan and Amanda MacLeod; and one great-grandson, Trekk Skeate. Graveside memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Seal Harbor Cemetery, Seal Harbor.
