WASHBURN – Katherine Corey McBreairty, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. She was born May 19, 1932, at Caribou, the daughter of Beecher and Edna (Doak) Jordan. She worked as a cook at Cary Medical Center, owned and operated the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Washburn, worked as first swing manager at McDonald’s in Presque Isle, and had a catering and wedding cake business in her home. Katherine was very active, member of the Rebecca Lodge in Ashland and served as past Noble Grande, MC of ceremonies for little Miss Caribou, former contestant for Mrs. Maine, competed in Powder Puff Derby at Spud Speedway, Cub Scout leader and committee member for Cub Scouts in Washburn, and active in the Lions Club in Caribou. She is survived by her mother, Edna Jordan of Caribou; her children and their spouses, Danny Corey Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Presque Isle, Anne Carter and her husband, Alan, of Washburn, Randy Corey and his wife, June, of Ft. Fairfield, Linda Smilie and her husband, Robert, of Shapleigh, David Corey and his wife, Lorrie, of Caribou; two brothers, Kenneth Jordan of Washington state, and Robert Jordan of Caribou; a sister, Wilda Stone of Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father and her husband, Danny Corey. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Washburn Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Ext. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Washburn Memorial Library or to the Washburn Fire Dept.
