OLD TOWN – Katherine O. Guerin, 90, a loving and gracious lady, passed away May 16, 2007, at a local hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was born March 28, 1917, in Bradley, the daughter of Francis Richard and Tallie (Guay) Richard. Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and known for her generosity, kindness and tireless work ethic. She spent 37 years as Old Town High School’s head cook, retiring in 1990, at a ceremony honoring her years of service in the school’s kitchen, now named after her. She was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Old Town, and lived her life serving others. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched, particularly her family who will miss her wisdom and guidance. She is survived by two sons, Roland Guerin of Holden and David Guerin of Norwalk, Conn., and his wife, Toni and children, Mike, Sheri and Carl; and a daughter, Cynthia (Guerin) Sturgeon and husband, John Sturgeon, of Eddington and their two daughters, Jessica and Kathryn. Other grandchildren include Joe, Scott, Dan, Greg Guerin and Rhonda (Guerin) Knight; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, David; two sons, Dr. Jean Guerin and Paul Guerin. At Kay’s request there will be no visiting hours. There will be private graveside services for the family and extended family 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Town High School for a culinary arts scholarship in her name. Arrangements in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
