SURRY – Katherine R. Nizzari, 61, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at her home in Surry. She was born May 13, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Robert E. and Doris C. (Sabiers) Thomas. Katherine was a regular attendee and active participant at the Unitarian/Universalist Church of Ellsworth. She attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and was a longtime resident of Massachusetts before moving to Maine in 1998. Katherine was an avid gardener, and had many interests, including astrology, gemology, and genealogy. Katherine also enjoyed playing Scrabble very much. She is survived by three children, Valdon Thomas and his wife, Aymee, of Gray, Ga., Korvid Nizzari and his wife, Julie, of Lakeville, Minn., and Alenda Calderbank and her husband, Charles, of Newtown, Conn.; five grandchildren; a brother, Jonathan L. Thomas and his wife, Jane, of Surry and several cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Unitarian/Universalist Church of Ellsworth, Bucksport Road, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Mark Worth, pastor, officiating.
