SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Kathleen F. Gere, 71, of Southwest Harbor passed away March 19, 2005, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. A long time resident of Southwest Harbor, she was born Aug. 15, 1933, in White Plains, N.Y., to the late Tomas J. and Mary Elizabeth (McNab) McInerney. She was an avid reader and had a passion for classical music and literature. She loved all animals and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and gardening. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin C. Gere and her grandson, Larry Wilts. Kathleen is survived by her brother, Thomas J. McInerney (Doris) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and sister, Shirley Higgins (Robert) of Orlando, Fla. Other survivors include stepson, Richard (Mary Lou); stepdaughter, Kathy; grandson, Richard Jr.; granddaughter, Chelsea; and great-grandson, Richard III, all of Connecticut; five nieces, four nephews, 21 great-nieces and great-nephews, one great-great-nephew, her aunt, Margaret Mount (Charlie) of Rutherglen, Scotland; many cousins in Scotland, Ireland and throughout the U.S. Kathleen was blessed with many dear friends in Southwest Harbor and throughout Mount Desert Island.
