PRESQUE ISLE – Kathleen J. Brown, 46, died Feb. 19, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. She was born May 8, 1957, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Garlinger) Watson. Kathy had been active in the Girl Scouts of America as a scout and later as a leader for more than 25 years. She spent many hours creating things with her hands and spending time with her friends at both the Presque Isle and Caribou Quilting Guilds. Surviving her are her husband, Stephen D. Brown, son of Roy and Joyce Brown of Mapleton; and a son, Jason Christopher Brown, both of Presque Isle; two brothers, Charles P. Watson of Shreveport, La., and Timothy D. Watson of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Mary Dahlberg of Alice Springs, Australia, Barbara Crawford of Houghton, La., and Susan E. Watson of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition, Kathy leaves close friends from all around the world through her association with quilting, scouting, the military and her work. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John W. Watson. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Chanel Cyr officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A spring interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to C-A-N-C-E-R, Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
