PATTEN – Kathy Glidden, 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jan. 25, 2007, after a hard fought 10-year battle with cancer. Kathy was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Presque Isle, the daughter of the late Peter Monahan and Verna Mae West. She married her husband, Gary June 23, 1967. They resided in Patten throughout their life together, where Kathy was a member of many groups and organizations. She was a longtime member of the Patten Women’s Club serving as president for a period of time, Pine Tree Quilters Guild, Snowshoe Quilters, Katahdin Quilters, Patten Methodist Church and Crystal Wesleyan Church. She was also an avid quilter and in recent years, made baskets. She very much enjoyed her outings to listen to music with all her music family in the area. She was well known for her quilts and always had one made for every occasion, whether it be a graduation, a wedding, or a birth, she made sure everyone she knew had a quilt to commemorate the occasion. First and foremost, she was a wonderful mother to her two children, Enock and Peter. Throughout the years she spent many months in the hospital, with Enock never leaving his side. It was her enormous faith and prayers that kept him going and gave her the strength to be such a great mom and wife to her family. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Gary; her two sons, Enock of Patten and Peter and Angela of Bangor; her grandsons, Gary and Atley of Bangor; her sister, Connie of Wonder Valley, Calif.; her brothers, Gene of Bangor, Gerry of Mapleton and Steve of Presque Isle; her best friends, Brenda Raymond of Patten, Amber Craig of Lincolnville and Harriet Bagley of Patten; and many other friends from all her various community activities. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Patten Pentecostal Church with funeral services being held 2 p.m. with the Revs. Peter Main and Sam DeWitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
