MORRILL – Keith W. Cross, 89, passed away in his sleep July 17, 2006, at his residence. He was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Morrill, the son of Harold W. and Lottie (Batchelder) Cross. All his life Keith was a very successful farmer who enjoyed haying and working his fields. He raised broilers and laying hens for many years. He was selectman for the town of Morrill for 15 years, plowed snow off the town roads in the winter, was a 28-year member of the Elks and a life member of the Grange, joining at age 14. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn; his son, Gerald Cross and his wife, JoAnn, of Belmont; daughters, Joan Bowen and her husband, Phil, of Morrill, Nancy Black of Belfast, Marie Blaisdell and her husband, Floyd, of Benton, Winnie Mucklow and her husband, Bryon, of Aptos, Calif. and Connie Jo Butler and her husband, Duane, of Morrill; brother, Edwin Cross and his wife, Gloria; sister, Joyce Wakefield and her husband, Elmore; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Keith was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Cross; a sister, Frances Fuller; and grandson, Timothy Black. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Morrill Baptist Church with the Rev.
