NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. Ralph Dennis “Denny” Walsh, BMC USN, retired, 75, died July 14, 2006, after a long illness, at the home of his daughter, Donna Walsh. He was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Danforth, the son of Lucinda and Ollie Walsh. Denny joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served 30 years in the military, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He had been in and out of both ports many times on cargo and transport ships. He patrolled the VN Delta alone with only VN nationalists as translators. Denny and his family retired to North Kingstown, R.I. Being an avid camper, he spent many summers in the woods of Maine where he made many friends. Surviving are his wife, Masako Walsh; daughter, Donna; son, Ronnie; brothers, Earl Walsh and his wife, Barbara, Richard Walsh and his wife, Jerry, Maurice Kinney and his wife, Brenda and Charles Hanson and his wife, Mary; sisters, Eleanor Cross and her husband, Everett, Nina J. Bowden, Nancy Drake and her husband, Edward and Ruth M. Cole; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Lucinda and Whitney Hanson; his father, Ollie Walsh; and brother-in-law, Howard Cole. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at the home of Nancy and Edward Drake, 406 Billings Rd., Hermon.
