PLYMOUTH – Kenneth George Bubar, 66, died peacefully June 17, 2004, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Palmyra, the son of Sheldon and Nellie (Fitzsimmons) Bubar. Ken graduated from Carmel High School, Class of 1955. During his lifetime Ken has worked at various jobs and he was particularly proud of owning and operating “Kens Texaco Station” in Newport and operating a poultry farm in Plymouth. He enjoyed driving truck for several companies and he also drove school bus for several districts. Ken liked going to car races, going for rides, and eating out in different restaurants. His vacation trip across the country in 1997 was a highlight of his life. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. Ken was a former selectman for the town of Plymouth, served on the Plymouth Fire Dept. and was a Plymouth town constable. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne (Langley) Bubar who died in 1971. He is survived by his longtime companion and partner, Barbara (Perry) Roberts of Plymouth; two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Loraine Bubar of Bangor, Kevin and Tricia Bubar of Plymouth; three daughters, Teresa Bubar and her companion, Carl Smith, of Scarborough, Suzanne and Robert Hamilton of Palmyra, Tori Bubar of Newport; one brother and his wife, Verne and Joyce Bubar of Etna; six grandchildren, Samual and Mae Smith, David Bubar, Ethan Bubar, Amanda and Holly Hamilton; two aunts; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be remembered by his former wife, Janice Knight Bubar of North Carolina; stepdaughter, Martha Knight of North Carolina; and stepson, James Fletcher Jr. of Plymouth. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Campbell officiating.
