WHITING and LUBEC Kenneth G. Wasson, 63, passed away June 24, 2005, at Down East Community Hospital in Machias. He was born Nov. 19, 1941, in East Machias, the son of Harold and Ruth (Green) Wasson. Kenneth was a 1960 graduate of Lubec High School and played on the basketball and baseball teams. He graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago in 1963 as an electronics technician and worked at Farrington Electronics in Washington D.C. He later moved back to Maine and was employed at “Det A,” a satellite tracing station in Prospect Harbor for several years. He then relocated to Whiting and owned two businesses, a grocery store in Whiting and a convenience store (Quik Shop) in Lubec. When he wasn’t working at the stores, he enjoyed spending time at this residence at Indian Lake. He was a member of the Christian Temple Church in Lubec and was once a member of the Lions Club. He spent the last 10 years living at the Marshall Manor Boarding Home in Machias. He is survived by two sons, Harold Wasson and Michael Wasson of Hancock; and a daughter, Julie Foss of Holden; a brother, the Rev. Norman Wasson of Flemingsburg, Ky.; a sister, Nola Kelley of Millborough, Va.; five grandchildren, Chelsea Foss, Benjamin Foss, Carter Wasson, Courtney Wasson, and Caleb Wasson; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Gloria (Dinsmore) Wasson. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at the Christian Temple Church in Lubec with his brother, the Rev. Norman Wasson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Christian Temple Church.
