PATTEN – Kenneth Jones, 84, of Patten and Leisure Village, Presque Isle, went to be with the Lord, April 28, 2005. He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Kenfig Hill, South Wales, United Kingdom, the son of David and Annie (Vaughn) Jones. His family immigrated to Patten in 1928, where he attended local schools, graduating from Patten Academy in 1939. After serving in World War II in Italy and Africa he married his “American Beauty Rose”, Rose (Corriveau) Aug. 25, 1946. He worked at the Great Northern Paper Company as a paper inspector for 26 years, retiring in 1982. Ken, a quiet man, was known for his patient, easy-going nature and singing ability. He derived his enjoyment from being with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Ken is survived by his wife, Rose; one daughter, Lana Jones of Patten; two sons, Dana and his wife, Elsie, of Houlton, and David and his wife, Brenda, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Luke and Gwen Jones of Houlton, Amy, Emerson, Matthew and Meghan Jones of Bangor; and one special sister-in-law, Georgianna Corriveau of Presque Isle. He is also survived by a special relative, Brenda Vaughn of Calicott, Wales, United Kingdom. She and her late husband, George, Ken’s cousin, spent many happy and sometimes eventful vacations together. He was predeceased by his parents; four sisters, Eunice Asher, Ivey Crawford, Linda Jewell, and Margaret Carlton; and one brother, William Jones. A private family service will be held with a date to be announced. Since Ken’s lifelong passion was his childrens’ educations, books and music; in lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Katahdin Elementary Library, care of Lana Jones, P.O.
