BANGOR – Kenneth S. Cassidy Sr., 74, died Nov. 29, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Patrick Joseph and Grace (Seely) Cassidy. Ken graduated prep school at Avon Old Farms, Avon, Conn., and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He attended the University of Massachusetts and Harvard University. He started his career as a stockbroker/trader in Boston. In 2001, he retired from the U.S. post office and moved to Bangor. Ken was a lover of books and music especially jazz. He was a lifetime member of Boston Athenaeum and the Sons of the American Revolution. Ken had an insatiable curiosity for everything and was a collector of all. He was a friend of Bill W. He is survived by children, a son, Kenneth S. Cassidy Jr. and wife, Jill, of Framingham, Mass., a daughter, Susan Zipkin and husband, Tully, of Newton, N.H., a son, Peter Justin Cassidy and wife, Brenda, of Igo, Calif.; and grandchildren, Katie, Patrick, Gioia and Eliza. A gathering of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Salvation Army Chapel, 65 South Park St., Bangor. The family invites friends to join them after the service for lunch at the soup kitchen.
