BANGOR – Laura May Parker, 85, died Oct. 15, 2006, at a Bangor health care center after a long illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Bangor, the daughter of John M. and Martha (White) Parker. She was educated in the Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School. She was employed throughout the years by Dow Air Force Base, Charles E. Kimball, Bangor Daily News, Diamond International and Eastern Maine Technical College. Laura was a longtime member of both Columbia Street Baptist Church and Bangor Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Donald W. Parker and wife, Dorothy, of Hampden; many nieces and nephews including, the Rev. John H. Lufkin and wife, Charlotte, of Orrville, Ohio, and the Rev. James L. Lufkin and wife, Kathryn, of West Bowdoin. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Helen Shumaker, Evelyn Lufkin, Gertrude Parker, Robert Parker Sr., Elmer Parker, Luther Parker and Albert Parker. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a funeral and committal service will be held 2 p.m. with Dr. Allen Gregory, outreach pastor at Bangor Baptist Church, officiating. Private interment will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery.
