JONESPORT – Laura W. Lenfestey, 87, went to be with her Lord to join her husband Fred on May 27, 2004, at a Milbridge health care facility. She was born at Jonesport Nov. 9, 1916, the daughter of Myron and Bernice (Higgins) Wilson. She served both the Beals and Jonesport RLDS Churches where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. Laura worked for many years as the chief telephone operator in Jonesport and had worked several years at the Jonesport Systems Store. Of all her work in life, working with her husband lobster fishing was the favorite. She was a big sister for several years and her gatherings for the Fourth of July will be remembered fondly by many. Laura was also an excellent cook, her whoopee pies, dumplings, biscuits and homemade chocolate donuts were famous. In 1982, Laura received an experimental heart valve called a Shiley Valve which extended her life by many years. She is survived by her three children, Myron “Mike” Lenfestey and wife, Sarah, of Frenchboro, Bernice “Bunnydel” Chevalier of Oakland and Roy Lenfestey and wife, Karen, of Jonesport; eight grandchildren, Lori, Lorena, Michele, Melissa and Myron Jr., Lura and Aaron and Lenny; three step-grandchildren, Sandy, Leanne and Michael; several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a special friend, Joan Hurlbert. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1987; an infant brother, Leon; and her sister, Margaret Stevens. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Richardson Cemetery, Jonesport, with her nephew, Elder Dwight Carver officiating.
