LINCOLN – Lawrence A. Jewett, 89, died Jan. 6, 2007, at a Lincoln health care facility. He was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Dover-Foxcroft, a son of Stanley and Clara (Mitton) Jewett. Larry was a member of the National Honor Society in high school, graduating with honors from N. H. Fay High School, Dexter, in June 1937. While in high school, he was an avid athlete, playing on several teams. He served his country during World War II, from 1945 to 1946. Larry worked for many years as foreman in the pulp and paper industry. He also enjoyed big band music, as well as hunting and fishing. Larry is survived by his daughter, Karen Bryer and her husband, Reginald, of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Walter Archer of Pennsylvania, Scott Archer of Portland and Michael Archer and his wife, Jessica, of Old Town; five grandchildren, Cameron, Connor, Colby, Cathryn and Lawrence Archer. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen; one sister, Evelyn Tardy; and three brothers, Stanley, Philip and John. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Gerald Craig officiating.
