OLD TOWN – Lawrence E. Graffam, 77, died June 22, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Old Town, the son of Edward and Mary Graffam. A 1947 graduate of Old Town High School; he worked for his father at Modern Studio, Old Town, before service in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was employed for 18 years in retail management before owning his own stores, Winter Harbor 5 & 10 and Winter Harbor Hardware, for another 18 years. He served as selectman on the Chamber of Commerce, Winter Harbor and was a mem-ber of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner for the community. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary of Bangor; a son, Mark and his companion, Sandra; two special grandchildren, Thomas and Jennifer, all of Old Town; a niece, Joann and her husband, Bill, of North Carolina; and two cousins. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Lawndale Cemetery. A light luncheon will be after the services at his son’s house, 50 Sunset Drive, Old Town. Arrangements are in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town.
