EASTON – Lawrence J. Hammond Sr., 66, husband of Betty E. Hammond, passed away peacefully Dec. 22, 2007, surrounded by his family, at his residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Ernest J. and Mildred G. (Hayden) Hammond. Lawrence attended Easton schools and was married to Betty E. Adams, Sept. 28, 1968. He had been employed by Carroll Patten’s Garage, Presque Isle and Flewelling Farms, Easton. He was a member of the former Easton Lions Club and Easton ATV Club. Lawrence was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, enjoyed working on autos and four-wheeling and was a friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Donald Hammond. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Hammond of Easton; three sons, Lawrence J. Hammond Jr. and his fianc?e, Rachel Corriveau, of Frenchville, Douglas Hamm-ond and his wife, Kim, of Easton and Kenneth Hammond of Sedgewick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva and Jim Jones of New Sweden, Lisa and Dana Cyr of Easton; six grandchildren, Ryan and Melissa Holmes, Brooke and Stephanie Hammond, all of Easton, Hailey and Zachary Hammond, all of Presque Isle, Brianna and Shane Jones, both of New Sweden, and Katie; one niece and two nephews. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Spring interment will take place at Estes Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Hammond to the Easton Future Farmers of America, care of Easton Elementary School, P.O. Box 44, Easton, ME 04740.
