SOUTH LINCOLN – Lawrence R. Loupin, 80, husband of Josephine (Kimball) Loupin, passed away June 18, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born June 7, 1928, in Norwood, Mass., the son of Robert E. and Nina (Shorey) Loupin. While he was in high school, Lawrence worked for the Civil Air Patrol, and it was there that he met Josephine, who became his wife of 60 years. He graduated from Lee Academy, and also attended tree surgeon school in Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Stowell-MacGregor, South Lincoln, in his younger days, and later at the Lincoln paper mill, retiring after 36 years there. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fishing, the South Lincoln jam sessions, and always stopped what he was doing to watch airplanes and butterflies. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion and had been a member of Ammadamast Grange. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Josephine, he is survived by four children, Patrick and his wife, Jill, of St. Helens, Ore., Scott and his wife, Noelle, of Harmony, Dana and his fiancee, Becky Templon, of Elkton, Va., and Paula Loupin and her fiance, Robert Ward, of Blaine; four grandchildren, David and Amanda Loupin of St. Helens, Ore., and Forrest and Reid Loupin of Harmony; a sister, Gail Wallace of Enfield; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son; three brothers, Maynard Stevens and George and Robert Loupin; and a sister, Ardys Stevens. Graveside services will be held at a later date at South Lincoln Cemetery.
