WINN – Jasper Walton Faulkner, 80, husband of Karen (Lane) Faulkner, passed away June 18, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Orient, the son of Leon and Bertha (Austin) Faulkner. Jasper grew up on “Skin Corner” in Haynesville and loved to talk about his childhood. He went into the Army, where he became a medic. Jasper was a Free Mason and a member of Eastern Star. He had many occupations, including working as a mechanic in Old Town, master mechanic at Forster Manufacturing, Mattawamkeag and a brief time at Great Northern Paper Co. He finished his working career as a millwright supervisor, building paper machines. Jasper got to realize his dream of having a horse ranch after his marriage to Karen. They rode with Pine Tree Equestrian Search and Rescue, out of Bangor. Jasper loved to hunt, fish and always planted a big garden. He was predeceased by his parents; and first wife, Jacqueline Leola Morse; a son, Gerald Faulkner; sisters, Lala, Marjorie, Maybelle, Esther Arlene and Ada; brothers, Leon, Ralph and Carroll; and a grandson, Stephen Paul Chase. He is survived by his wife, Karen Faulkner, who “borrowed” him for 18 years; his children, Sumner Leon Faulkner and his wife, Sherry, of Bangor, Elaine Faulkner Thurlow and husband, Mike, of Lee, Regina Faulkner Smith and husband, Ernie, of Howland and Dwayne Jasper Faulkner of Medway; stepchildren, Raelene Morrison and husband, Bill, of Ocala, Fla., and Jayson Rush of Winterport; grandchildren, Christi Davis, Leah Tuffley, Nina Faulkner, Mandy Pickering, Jasper Faulkner II, Travis Lee, Amber, Billy and Chris Morrison; and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor and Colonial Healthcare, Lincoln, for the care that was given while he was a resident there. They also would like to thank Joan Stinson for the special relationship that she shared with him. Also, they would like to thank Penobscot Valley Hospital for their comfort care in Jasper’s final days. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Carmel, with Mike Thurlow officiating.
