PORTLAND and ORRINGTON – Lawrence “Lennie” Mann passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007. He was born July 5, 1969, in Bangor, the son of Rodney and Linda Mann. Lennie was a 1987 graduate of Brewer High School and a 1992 graduate of University of Southern Maine. He earned his Master of Business Administration in 1995 from Clemson University through the Neos program in Pordenone, Italy. Lennie earned his Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA, designation in 2004. He traveled and worked internationally for several years before co-founding Stone-Coast, LLC, Portland, in 2006. Lennie felt the need to become involved in the community and actively served as a mentor at the Community Counseling Center, Portland. He had an appreciation for literature and would often write about his various travels and experiences on his blog. Lennie lived life to the fullest and was legendary for his pranks, humor and quick wit. He loved adventure, travel and flying. Lennie could often be found golfing or skiing at Sugarloaf, while staying at his house fondly named, Three Burnt Loaves or frequenting one of his favorite establishments, Dock Fore, Portland. Lennie was the Greater Orrington Open, G.O.O., Champion for eight consecutive years, a 2004 Freedom Cup Award winner and finished the 2004 New York City marathon in approximately four hours and five minutes. Lennie, a lifelong Red Sox fan, was thankful that he was alive to see the Red Sox win the World Series. Above all else, Lennie was a devoted and loyal son, brother and friend, who had a heart of gold and shared it unselfishly with others. He is survived by his parents, Rodney and Linda Mann of Orrington; his two sisters, Sammantha Kramer of Mansfield, Mass., and Christiana Mann of Wrentham, Mass.; a beloved brother-in-law, Matthew Kramer; and niece, Sadie Elizabeth Kramer, also of Mansfield, Mass.; a grandmother, Pauline Rodolph of Fort Worth, Texas; and close family friend, Robert Sekera of Eddington and too many friends to mention. Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held noon Thursday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, family friend, officiating. A private burial will be held Friday morning, Sept. 14. Donations will benefit Brewer High School students, Maine public libraries and the Community Council Center, Portland, all of which Lennie supported throughout his life.
