WINTHROP – Leah Phoebe (Nash) Nadeau, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Heritage Rehabilitation Center, Winthrop. Leah was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Port Clyde, the daughter of Willie Walter Nash and Hattie (Blake) Nash. Leah attended Rockland schools. Leah worked at the sardine factory in Rockland, Ramdell’s and Van Balen’s sewing, which she enjoyed. She loved to sew and was a home seamstress, known for her clothing and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Leah married Francis Nadeau, May 12, 1942. They made their home at 61 Flood Avenue Road, Wiscasset; raised their children there and where Leah continued to be a homemaker and loving wife to her husband, Francis. Leah and her husband enjoyed traveling in their Winnebago motor home to Florida in the winter and they also enjoyed camping and fishing. Leah enjoyed cooking homemade baked beans and ham, and if she knew the family was coming to visit she would always have a pot of beans in the oven. Leah will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whom loved her. Her family wants to thank all of the staff at Heritage Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Leah during her stay. Leah was predeceased by her husband, Francis Nadeau; sister, Marion Collins; sister, Dorothy Duplisea; sister, Audrey Bishop; brother, Francis Nash; and sister-in-law, Geneva Nash. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Marie Bixby and her husband, John F. Bixby Jr., of Buckfield; son, Timothy Laurel Nadeau and his wife, Carol Nadeau, of Lisbon; grandson, John F. Bixby III of Buckfield; granddaughter, Rebecca S. Martin of Monmouth; granddaughter, Rachel Nad-eau of Brunswick; grandson, Mark Nadeau of Bowdoin; great-grandchildren; brother, Elroy Nash of Tenants Harbor; brother-in-law, Raymond Nadeau of Bath; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held noon, Thursday, Dec. 27, at Hall & Bibber Funeral Home, 78 Main St., Thomaston. The Rev. Waldon Chandler will officiate. Committal service to be held at Ridge Cemetery, Martinsville, and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall & Bibber Funeral Home, 78 Main St., Thomaston, ME 04861.
