ISLAND FALLS – Lela M. Stairs, 81, died Feb. 24, 2004, at Patten. She was born April 11, 1922, in Island Falls, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Dickinson. She had worked at the Island Falls Post Office, and was a member of the Island Falls Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Kenneth C. Stairs II and his wife, Rachel, of Island Falls; three granddaughters, Byrnn, Jamie and Casey; two sisters, Alma Stairs of Island Falls, Bev and her husband, Wilson Long, of Lansdale, Pa.; two brothers, John Dickinson, and Leo and his wife, Cecile Dickinson, all of Patten; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ken; her parents; and brothers and sisters. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Island Falls United Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Flye officiating. Spring interment will be in the Island Falls Cemetery.
