ETNA – Lena T. Nye, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior April 28, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility following a long illness. She was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Presque Isle, the daughter of George and Nellie Grass. Lena retired in 1976 from Doug’s Shop N Save in Bangor after 25 years of service. She had worked at the stores on Hammond and Union Streets. Lena was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be sadly missed by many. She was married to Frank “Bill” Nye (her beloved husband) who predeceased her in 1976. She was also predeceased by her grandson, David Bushey in 2003. Lena is survived by her only child, her son, George T. Bushey Sr. and his wife, Linnis, of Etna; one brother and his wife, Emery and Lydia Grass of Dexter; eight grandchildren, George Bushey Jr., Robin McClain and her husband, Joe, Kelley Bragg, Roxanne Bushey, Darryl Smith, Wendy Lawler and her husband, Mike, Brinda Bushey, George Lawson; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She will also be remembered by her dearest friend, Arlene Stearns of Brewer. Friends and family may call 12-1 p.m. Saturday May 1, 2004, at Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport where a memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Treadwell officiating. Following the service friends and family are invited to a luncheon from 2-4 at Lena’s Home on Route 2 in Etna.
