BANGOR – Leo Gopin, 84, died Jan. 5, 2008, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born April 25, 1923, in Bangor, the son of Isaac and Mollie Gopin. Leo was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a lifelong employee of Bangor News Agency and Magazines, Inc. Leo is survived by his loving companion of 53 years, Mildred Lawrence of Bangor; eight daughters, Jane Leavitt of Old Town, Marie Bragg of Bangor, Donna Haley and her husband, Paul, of Orono, Susan Littlefield and her husband, Doug, of Newport, Linda Lawrence of Howland, Teresa Munson and her husband, Alvin, of Orono, Kelly Oliver and her husband, Bob, of Carmel and Christine Lawrence and her companion, Don, of Milford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, sister and two brothers. Leo requested that no memorial service be held. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
