CARIBOU – Leo J. Walker, 86, died peacefully Nov. 20, 2007, at a Caribou health care facility. He was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Allagash, the son of Ernest and Eunice (Castonguay) Walker. For five years, Leo served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver during World War II. He was a past member of the American Legion of St. Francis and the VFW Post No. 9609 of Fort Kent. After his time in the service, he returned to St. Francis where he worked for J.P Levesque Lumber Inc., as a bulldozer operator. He is survived by his companion, Laura Saucier of Eagle Lake; four sons, James, David and Larry, all of Connecticut, and Denis of Vermont; one daughter, Marie Carusillo of Connecticut; two sisters, Patricia Nadeau of St. Francis and Mary Ouellette of Connecticut; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Walker and Claudine Walker, both of St. Francis; one brother-in-law, Adrien Jandreau of St. John; and four special friends, Norma and Roger Soucy, and Charlene and Denis Labbe. In addition to both parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Maurice, Rene, Edgar and Peter; and three sisters, Margaret, Betty and Nellie. In following Leo’s wishes, there will be no viewing hours at the funeral home. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date at Caribou Veterans’ Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Edgar J. “Guy” Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
