NIOTA, Tenn. – Leona J. (Hathaway) Miller died Saturday in Athens, Tenn. She was a native of Caribou and was the daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice Furge Hathaway. She was retired from the Caribou School system. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Fredrick Miller on Jan. 19, 2001; and daughter, Carlene Cronquist. She is survived by her daughter, Ava Maria Clay of Niota, Tenn.; three sons, Robert Miller of Nicholsvile, Ky., Frederick Miller of Baton Rouge, La., David Miller of Cornelius, Ore.; beloved aunt, Cora Finnamore of Perth, New Brunswick, Canada; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Niota Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to East Niota Baptist Church, 301 East Farrell St., Niota, TN 37826. The family will receive friends in Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn.
