CARIBOU – Leona W. Jackson, 96, died Aug. 11, 2008, at Caribou Nursing and Rehab. She was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Perham, the daughter of Leroy and Sigrid (Akerson) Wardwell. Leona farmed with her husband for many years and was also employed at Birds Eye and McCain’s. She was a member of Caribou United Baptist Church and the Eastern Star and the Rebecca Lodge. She is survived by a son, Kenton Nadeau and his wife, Carole, of Caribou; two sisters, Geneva Rossignol and Captola Dahlgren, both of Caribou; five grandchildren, Michele Gill and her husband, Scott, of Brunswick, Jeff Nadeau and his wife, Christy, of San Diego, Brian Nadeau of Sewaren, N.J., Andrea Hays and her husband, Glen, of Chandler, Ariz., and Bradley Nadeau and his wife, Sara, of Whiting, Vt.; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Austin of Maine, Danielle Nadeau and Emily Hays, both of Arizona and Ryan Nadeau of Vermont; and a great-great-grandson, Shawn Nadeau of Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence in 1979; a brother, Atwood Wardwell; and six sisters, Jenny Siddle, Evelyn Sands, Dorothy Wardwell, Ruth Sager, Marjorie Nadeau and Annie Wilcox. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Fairview Cemetery, Perham, with the Rev. John Kiehn, pastor of Caribou United Baptist Church, officiating.
