PITTSTON – Leonard Richard Young, 63, died Feb. 28, 2008. He was born Jan. 4, 1945, in Machias, the second born son of Frank and Lura Amy (Dowling) Young. Leonard graduated in 1963 from Washington Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed at the paper mill in Livermore from 1968 to 1987 and then by the State of Maine for more than 20 years. Survivors include his significant other, Nancy Troop of Pittston; and his brother, Clyde D. Young of Livermore. The survivors wish to thank the staff at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital at Togus for their wonderful medical care and services. There will be a committal service with full military honors 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the new Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Donations may be made to a nonprofit organization, Pine Tree Camp for Disabled Children and Adults, care of Pine Tree Society for Handicapped Children and Adults, Inc., 149 Front St., Bath, ME 04530.
