OLD TOWN – Leonie Mary Richard, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at an Orono nursing facility. She was born March 9, 1912, in Old Town, the daughter of the late Edmund J. and Delina M. (Damien) Dupuis. Leonie finished her schooling early to assist in raising her nine younger siblings. She worked for the University of Maine as a housekeeper for 16 years. Leonie also worked for many families in the Old Town area. She was an avid Red Sox fan whether they were winning or losing. She enjoyed playing beano with her friends at Marsh Island Apartments and Orono Commons. Leonie thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joan Chappelle and her husband, Wayne R., of Old Town; son, Thomas Richard and his wife Judith, of Bangor; nine grandchildren, Jerry King and his wife Paula, David King and his wife Patti, Donald King and his wife, Theresa Logan, Steven Chappelle and his wife, Mary, Dianne Paradis and her husband, Mark, Douglas Chappelle and his wife, Michelle, Scott Richard and his wife, Sandra, Caroline and her husband, David; 17 great-grand-children; two great-great-grand-children; two stepgrand-children, Michelle Thomas and Theresa Bragan; two sisters, Jeannett Savage and Evelyn Luce; two brothers, Louis and Norman Dupuis; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clement Richard; daughter, Rita King; five brothers; and one sister. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard, celebrant. Committal will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Old Town immediately following the service. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship following the committal service.
