MORRILL – Leroy “Roy” E. Sheldon Sr., 93, died Friday, March 17, 2006, after a brief illness. He was born June 4, 1912, to Edward and Alice (Brown) Sheldon. Roy was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Force in China. Upon his return to Morrill, he and his brother, Elwyn entered the poultry business. Later he was employed by the state of Maine. In retirement, his passion was making ice cream for “The Barn” in Belfast. Roy was also a life long member of the Morrill Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Becky; and an infant granddaughter, Mary E. Voss. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Lee and Kathy Sheldon of Brule, Neb., Victor and Sonja Voss of Morrill, Steven and Tisha Sheldon of Crofton, Md., Timothy and Kimberley Sheldon of Brunswick, Patrick and Candis Scribner of Morrill; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grand-children; a sister-in-law, Hilda Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 27, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, with a funeral to follow 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at the Morrill Baptist Church.
