SULLIVAN – Leroy S. Day, 49, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1957, in Bangor, the son of Harry E. and Hilda E. (Johnson) Day. Leroy attended Sullivan Grammar School and Sumner Memorial High School, where he graduated as valedictorian, Class of 1975. He went to the University of Maine at Orono and graduated in 1979. He worked for the Maine Department of Transportation for many years. He loved animals, especially dogs and he always had one. He leaves behind his two dogs, Max and Jake. Leroy is survived by his sister, Paula Brandt and her husband, Dan, of Sullivan; a special niece, Charlotte McLain and her fiance, Stephen, of Birch Harbor; his godfather, Emerson Rice of Sullivan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Leroy also had many special friends, the Campbell family, lifelong friends and other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, his godmother, Ethel Rice; and a sister, Beverly. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Ashville Community Church. Spring interment will be at Simpson Cemetery, Sullivan.
