EDDINGTON and SULLIVAN Lester G. “Les” Ring, 71, died March 8, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Morrisville, Vt., the son of Ray B. and Thelma (Andrews) Ring. Lester served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved repairing and restoring Ford 8N tractors and enjoyed camping. He worked at Ring’s Paving for more than 18 years. He was a member of David Hooper Masonic Lodge No. 201. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne of Eddington; sons, Bernie Ring and partner, Debbie Crowley, of Sullivan, Timothy Ring of Steuben, Greg Ring and wife, Cathy, of Sorrento; daughters, Lisa Ring and husband, Bruce Spencer, of Sullivan, Karen Hart and husband, Mark, of Plainfield, Vt.; brother, Allie Ring and wife, Aline, of Hyde Park, Vt.; sisters, Jean Stewart of Hardwick, Vt., Merlene Orton of Duxbury, Vt., Marclene LaClair of Hyde Park, Vt.; stepchildren, John Merchant III and wife, Ashleigh, of Atlanta, Ga., Shawn Merchant and wife, Sandy, of Gouldsboro, Miranda Merchant of Mariaville; grandchildren, Nathan and Hillary Hart, Christopher and Joshua Ring, Alanna Bachelder “Pumpkin Seed,” Jordan, Taylor and Shawn Merchant Jr.; his best friend, Buster his cat and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
