LINCOLN – Lewis Marshall Knights, 80, died Jan. 6, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Enfield, the son of James and Carrie (Cook) Knights. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater aboard an LST. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. Lewis retired from Great Northern Paper Company in 1985, where he worked for 32 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his hunting camp with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irma (Kimball) Knights; and children, Harold Audibert and June Michaud, Bill and Betsy Audibert, Chet and Sandra Knights, Nadine and Tom Hunter, Cheryl and Terry Maschino and Mike and Deborah Knights. He will be fondly remembered by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Hazel Knights of Howland; and his brother-in-law, Robert Kimball and his wife, Darlene, of Skandia, Mich. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters. At his request, there will be no funeral services. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring.
