LUBEC – Lila (Denbow) Lyons, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at a Lubec nursing facility. Lila was born Aug. 23, 1913, at Lubec, the daughter of John and Cellia (Small) Denbow. She grew up in Lubec and packed fish for many years. She then moved to Portland and on to Massachusetts, until her retirement when she returned to Lubec. She was a member of the Lubec Congregational Church for many years. Lila was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harvey J. Lyons; a son, Lauris Lyons; and five sisters. Lila is survived by a daughter, Jeanne and her husband, Larry Wescott, of Seal Harbor; a son, John Lyons and his companion, Nancy, of East Machias; a daughter-in-law, Dottie Lyons of Lubec; three sisters, Madeline Lyons and Mildred Maher of Lubec, and Corrine Lyons of Trescott; three brothers, John, Basil and Ikey Denbow, all of Lubec; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grand-children; and five great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Direct Cremation of Maine.
