FARMINGTON – Lillian Dimond King, 96, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2006, at Edgewood Manor Rehabilitation Center, Farmington, where she had resided since May 2005. She was born Oct. 18, 1909, in Leeds, the oldest child of Edward “Jack” and Ida Burnham Dimond. Her family moved to South Orrington where she attended schools and always considered it to be her home. In the early 1930s, she married Harris “Zingy” King and they had two children, Gene and Nola. Lillian worked as a caregiver and in area shoe factories. She loved dogs, and raised and sold French poodles. She also loved to watch and feed the birds. Lillian enjoyed danc-ing when she was younger, playing cards, and socializing with friends and neighbors. Her husband passed away in the early 1960s and around 1964, she met Roger LeGace of Old Town, who was the love of her life until he died in 1996. Together, they built a home on what is now “LeGace Lane” on Naskeag Point, Brooklin. Their home by the ocean was always open to family and friends and many people enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens and down home cooking. Lillian was always a joy to know and kept people smiling with her keen sense of humor. She is survived by a dear friend, Margarite Adams of Veazie; and a cousin, Wayne Dimond of Wilton, who had the joy and privilege of helping her in her last years. She was predeceased by her husband, Harris King; her later companion, Roger LeGace; daughter, Nola King; son, Gene King; brother, Eddie Dimond; and sister, Eva Hoxie. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Hill Cemetery, South Orrington. Cremation and memorial services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center of Farmington.
