MARSHFIELD and PRESQUE ISLE – Lillian Mae Payne, 86, passed away April 9, 2006, with her family around her at home. She was born July 15, 1919, in Presque Isle the daughter of Myrtle Delano Brewer and Thomas Nelson Brewer. She lived most of her life in Presque Isle until 1997, when she and her husband, Chester E. Payne moved to Marshfield to live near their daughter and son-in-law. She and Chester were married 63 years and had one child, Nancy L. (Payne-Leighton) Ingalls. Lillian was a member of the American Legion in Presque Isle prior to her marriage. She was a “friend of the church” of the UCC Center St. Congregational Church in Machias. She is survived by her spouse, daughter and son-in-law, Brian Ingalls, all of Marshfield; grandson, Chester J. Leighton and his wife, Carolyn, of Lynchburg, Va.; stepgrandsons, Darren Hoffman and wife, Brenda, of Bremerton, Wash., Shawn Ingalls and fiance, Denise Wood and Jason Ingalls and fiance, Brandy Beal, of Jacksonville, Maine; great-granddaughter, Samantha Floyd of Eddington; great-stepgrandaughters, Heather Wrey of Bedford, Va. and Sienna Ingalls of Jacksonville; sisters-in-law, Margaret Brewer of Caribou and Helene Sullivan and her husband, Spencer, of Baltimore, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews with special ties to Reta Gallagher and Dorothy McNulty of Presque Isle and Alvin Payne and his wife, Beverly, of Wolcott, Conn.; numerous cousins with special ties to Dorothy Kinney and her husband, Graydon, of Presque Isle; special friends, Wilma “Billie” Ingalls and Gary and Sue Derickson, all of Machias; Jane and Eddie Dillon of Hopedale, Mass. Madge and Bob Bowman of Shreve, Ohio, Sherry and Bob Thibodeau, Beryl and Donna Kinney, all of Presque Isle and Jennifer Bartlett of Washburn. She was predeceased by her parents; half-brother, Walter Cassidy as well as his wife, Alice; brothers, Carl Brewer, Harold Brewer, Spugon “Sike” Brewer, Merle Brewer and Fremon “Chink” Brewer. A celebration of her life will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at her home, 524 Northfield Rd., Marshfield. Committal at Fairmont Cemetery, Presque Isle with graveside service announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to UCC Center St. Congregational Church, P.O.
