MARS HILL and BUCKSPORT – Lillian Ruth (Curtis) Davenport, 83, died unexpectedly April 8, 2006, at her home in Mars Hill. She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Easton, the daughter of Walter and Hazel (Flewelling) Curtis. She graduated from Easton High School and attended Aroostook State Normal School, earning her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school at the Ladner School, Easton, and in the Dixmont school system. She attended church actively. She is survived by her son, Ernest Davenport Jr. and fiance, Lynn Johnson, of Bucksport; two grandchildren, Marc Davenport and wife, Jen, of Bucksport, Amy Grenier and husband, Robert, of Milford; great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Brandon Davenport of Bucksport; sister, Mrs. Nell Ward of Rowlett, Texas; sister in-law, Audrey Curtis of Rochester, N.Y.; Matt and Carole McGucken of Wallingford, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Davenport Sr.; brother, Boyd Curtis; special friend, Elwood Kingsbury. Lillian’s family would like to thank all of Lillian’s special friends from Mars Hill. Visitation for family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Ken Davenport officiating.
