LUBEC – Linda “Sue” Glidden, 63, went to be with her Lord June 13, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of Russell Smith and the late Mary (Breeden) Smith. Sue was a member of the Women’s Army Corps, where she met her husband, “Art,” when they were both stationed in New York City. They made their first home in Wallingford, Conn. Sue was a member of the Women’s of the Moose Club Dietary Association of America, the American Legion, United Church of Christ, Wallingford, Conn., having made her Pilgrimage to Israel in 1982 through the church. Sue was also a member of West Lubec United Methodist Church, Lubec. Sue enjoyed working and teaching Sunday school in both churches, as well as having fond memories of working for the Meriden-Wallingford Newpaper and Masonic Home and Hospital, Wallingford, Conn. Sue was a great mom to her children, always having milk-n-cookies ready when they came home from school. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Arthur Glidden; her children, Regina Preston and Michael Glidden; grandchildren, Roy, Lisa, David, Crystal and Shawna; her father, Russell Smith; a sister, Carolyn Kahle and husband, Sheridan; and a brother, Larry Smith and wife, Linda. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary; and two brothers, Michael and Jerry. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Monday, June 16, at West Lubec United Methodist Church, Lubec, with Pastor Dale Hupp officiating. Sue’s wishes were that no flowers be at her service. Arrangements are in the care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
