WESTBROOK – Lionel Caron, 87, passed away Jan. 13, 2006, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 3, 1918, in Fort Kent, the son of Josephel and Helen (Plourde) Caron. He grew up in Fort Kent where he attended school. In 1952, he married Marguerite “Margie” Bouchard and resided in Caribou. He was a civil engineer at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone for 35 years. Lionel was a highly skilled carpenter and builder most of his life and enjoyed making toys and furniture from scratch. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel No. 356, Westbrook. In 1961, Lionel and Margie adopted a son and also raised two other children. Following his retirement they re-located to Westbrook. Lionel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margie; his son, Dennis and his wife, Luanne, of Hollis; a special nephew, Val Emond and his wife, Barbara; a special niece, Jacinthe Contonio of Massachusetts; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lionel is also survived by two brothers, Hamel and his wife, Bernadette, of California; Alberi and his wife, Rita, of Biddeford; two sisters, Irma and her husband, Curtis Floyd, of Florida and Bernadette and her husband, Stanley Kozackowitz, of Connecticut. He was predeceased by two brothers, Conrad and Darius; and two sisters, Yvette and Beulah. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Arrangements by Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
