LIONEL J. MADORE Madore, formerly of Southwest Harbor, died April 23, 2007, at a Salem, Mo., hospital. He was born July 6, 1918, in Van Buren, the son of Antoine and Sarah (Levesque) Madore. Lionel joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938 and was stationed in Southwest Harbor, where he met his first wife, Mary. After leaving the CCCs, he worked as a carpenter for various companies including the H.R. Hinkley boatyard. Later he found employment in California and Arizona before returning to Southwest Harbor. He was especially proud of his volunteer work with his son’s Boy Scout troop. In 1993, after his wife’s death, he moved to Salem, Mo., to be near his son, Daniel. Here he met his second wife, Hazil. Lionel took great pleasure in visits from his many stepchildren and their families. Survivors include his children, Loretta Rogers of South Portland, Jack Madore of Warren, Keith Madore of Trenton and Lionel John Madore of Berkeley, Calif.; his daughter-in-law, Berniece Madore of Salem, Mo.; stepchildren, Virginia Tigue, Ruth Land, David Barton, Helen Tigue, Roy Barton and Jerri Laughlin, all of Missouri; his sister, Loretta Parent of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grand-children, stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Bennett Madore; his second wife, Hazel Barton Madore; son, Daniel Madore; stepson, Joseph Barton; brothers, Joseph Madore, Gerald Madore, Irenee Madore and Everett Madore; sisters, Irene St Pierre, Rosalie Cyr and Sister Cecile Madore, SCIM. Private services will be held at a later date. All arrangements were under the direction of James and Gahr Mortuary, Salem, Mo.
