SWANVILLE – Lionel “Rick” Sutfin, 65, beloved husband of Rhoda (Colcord) Sutfin, died peacefully in his sleep, July 19, 2005, at his home in Swanville. He was born July 19, 1940, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Dorothy (Sperry) and Lionel Sutfin. He attended Southern Connecticut State College, University of Bridgeport, and achieved a Ph.D. at Stanford University. After teaching and administration in Darien, Conn., he was Superintendent of Schools in Portola Valley California and then MSAD No. 56 in Searsport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Nancy Steffen of Virginia; two sons, Lionel Charles Sutfin of Bellingham, Wash., and Scott Sperry Sutfin of Livermore, Calif.; four grandchildren, Taylor, Amber, Lindsey, and Lionel Charles James; three great-grandchildren, Shayla, Noah, and Parker. Rick will be sadly missed by his cat, Alex. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at Gordon Cemetery, Searsport, with Pastor Art Cotton officiating.
