JONESBORO – Llewellyn M. “Mike” Maker, 94, died Feb. 16, 2005, at Oceanview Nursing Home. He was born in Cutler, April 25, 1910. He was a graduate of Washington Academy in the Class of 1927, graduating third in his class. After graduation he moved to Vermont where he learned the printing trade. He returned to Machias where he went to work for Earl Parlin and the Machias Valley News where he worked for 46 years until his retirement. He was married to Marion E. Dinsmore for 64 years. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned several different camps from Cutler to Bog and Hadley Lakes and up Machias River. He was one of the original members of the Machias Valley Sportsman Club being secretary and a member for many years. He was also a member of the Machias Archery Club winning many plaques and ribbons. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn White, and her husband, Richard, of Jonesboro; three sisters, Roberta Shaw of Cutler, Dorothea Look of Gardner, and Mildred Beam of Bar Harbor; one brother, Caleb Maker of East Machias; four grandchildren, Patricia Driscoll and husband, Kendall, of Columbia Falls, Vance White of Jonesboro, Terry White and friend, Sharon Cale, of Jonesboro, Allison Tibbetts and husband, Ted of Jonesboro; five great-grand-children, Kendra Nelson and husband, Rob, of Columbia, Kara Logan and husband, Johnny, of Hancock, Deanne Taylor and husband, Alan, of Cutler, and Ericka White and Brittany White of Jonesboro; two great-great-grandchildren, Dylan Nelson and Kaylee Nelson of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pennell “Speck” Worcester of Machias and Earl Armstrong of Sheridan, Wyo. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion, in 1996; sister, Marjorie Hamor in 1984, and brother, Durward, in 2000. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Whiting Village Cemetery.
