FORT FAIRFIELD – Mary T. Kimball, 96, wife of the late Dr. Herrick C. Kimball, of Fort Fairfield, died Feb. 15, 2005, at a local hospital following a very brief illness. She was born March 19, 1908, in Fort Fairfield, the first child of Hiram and Kate (Everett) Towle. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1926 and attended Simmons College in Boston, Mass. Mary was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for the woman’s class, Philomathian Club, past president and life membership in the Garden Club Federation of Maine, Extension, charter member of Community General Hospital Auxiliary, AVCC Ladies Golf, the Art Club, a charter member of the Frontier Heritage Historical Society and a first sponsor of Beta Sigma Phi, which was started in 1954. Mary is survived by two children, Carolyn K. and her husband, John F. McNamara of Fort Fairfield and Dr. Philip R. Kimball and his wife, Janet, of Winterport; seven grandchildren, nine great-grand-children, one sister, Clara T. and husband, Ted Hussey, of Mars Hill, two sisters-in-law, Mrs Everett (Mavis) Towle and Mrs Hiram (Ruth) Towle, both of Fort Fairfield and a brother-in-law, Hal Kinney of Presque Isle. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by six brothers, Everett, Charlie, Arthur, Donald, John and Hiram Towle; three sisters, Helen T. Bubar, Ruth T. Smith and Kathryn T. Kinney. She also leaves 36 nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, 79 Fleetwood St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Blackstone and Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship area of the church. A private committal service will be held later in the summer at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Fairfield. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle.
